Working together to recognise experience

Transitioning from Defence, Police or First Responder service into a new career involves much more than finding another job. It means navigating an entirely new environment, where years of valuable experience need to be translated into nationally recognised qualifications that speak a language that civilian employers understand and value.

The challenges are different for everyone. Some people simply don’t know what career options are available or how their skills transfer outside of service. Others may be navigating physical or mental health challenges, family responsibilities, or the broader adjustment that comes with leaving a structured service environment.

That’s why strong partnerships matter. By working alongside trusted organisations that specialise in wellbeing, transition support, employment and professional development, we can help connect people with the right support at the right time.

Fortem Australia

Supporting first responders and their families.

Fortem Australia is an independent not-for-profit organisation supporting the mental health, wellbeing and career development of first responders and their families.

Fortem provides counselling and psychological support, social connection and wellbeing activities, strategic career management and mental health literacy resources. Its services are designed around the unique experiences and challenges faced by people working in first responder environments.

Fortem also supports eligible former first responders who have left service within the past ten years, recognising that the effects of first responder work and career transition can continue well after a person has left their role.

Churchill Education is proud to promote Fortem Australia and the important work it delivers across the first responder community.

Our organisations provide complementary services. Fortem supports the wellbeing, resilience and career transition of first responders and their families, while Churchill Education helps experienced police, emergency services and public safety professionals explore how their existing workplace capability may contribute towards nationally recognised qualifications through Recognition of Prior Learning.

March Out

Supporting veterans beyond service.

March Out is a veteran-led organisation created by veterans who understand the personal and professional challenges that can come with leaving military service.

Through structured peer mentoring, practical transition assistance and personal development, March Out helps veterans rebuild direction, confidence and purpose. Its support includes translating military experience into civilian career opportunities, developing resumes, navigating services such as DVA and Medicare, managing transition-related administration and connecting veterans with appropriate community and professional support.

March Out offers six-week transition mentoring programs, immersive workshops and personalised one-on-one mentoring for veterans preparing to leave Defence or adjusting to life after service.

Churchill Education is proud to support March Out’s work. Our organisations share a commitment to helping veterans recognise the value of their experience and take positive steps towards their next chapter.

While March Out provides practical guidance, mentoring and transition support, Churchill Education helps eligible Defence personnel and veterans convert the skills and experience gained throughout their service into nationally recognised qualifications through Recognition of Prior Learning.
