Co-Founder Tricia Velthuizen explains why getting your Defence RPL qualifications with Churchill is a good move...
As a current or formerly serving member of the ADF, you have built up skills, experience, knowledge and training that should not be underestimated. The difficulty lies in communicating this to employers in the civilian world. That's where we come in.
From the moment we opened Churchill Education back in 2006, we have had a strong link with ADF. We were the first organisation to work exclusively with recognition of prior learning assessments, and have continued to grow and refine the process and link with ADF.
Prior to creating Churchill Education, co-founder Randall Smith was in police for 16 years. Police and defence understand and respect each other. Which means we understand what it is to do hard jobs in difficult places. Long days, away from your families and the risk attached.
We have always hired ex-defence members as part of our team. We want to make sure we have the best people looking over your defence documents - people with insight and understanding when it comes to the unique skills and experience you have accumulated in defence, and how they transfer over to the civilian world.
We get invited into the Soldier Recovery Centre regularly, and are proud to work closely with Mates for Mates, Solider On and RSL. Connecting with community has always been important to us as people and as an organisation.
We've shared openly about Randall's Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, his recovery and the impact it has had on family. This resonates with defence members.
We have a deep sense of what it is you contribute.
We work on mapping all your experience into nationally recognised qualifications, so that you can get the recognition you deserve.
For Churchill, it's personal.
We have and always will offer a complimentary preliminary assessment so that you can find out what civilian qualifications you are eligible for based on your service experience. It is then entirely up to you to decide which, if any, qualifications you would like to go forward with.
Our defence RPL mentors will guide you every step of the way.
