RPL Assessments – Not Shopping Lists
There’s something that we’ve been asked this week and we just thought we’d pop in and share the answer with everybody.
You see one of the things Churchill never does is a shopping list. In qualifications, there are ranks that often start at Certificate III, and go up to Certificate IV, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, up to a Graduate Diploma (which is higher than a Bachelor’s degree).
If you are eligible for a qualification, we tell you the highest level you can achieve. For example, if you are at the Diploma level, we are not going to also offer you a Certificate III and IV.
So sometimes what you’ll find is other recognition of prior learning providers will give you a ‘shopping list’ of multiple ‘nested’ qualifications (i.e different levels of the same qualification).
What that’s not going do is tell you what is good for your career and what your employer is looking for.
There is simply nothing to be gained by spending good money on multiple levels of the same qualification. Employers want to see the highest level you are experienced at.
At times it looks great to be able to pad your resume with multiple qualifications, but it really comes down to what’s the right fit for you at that time and what’s going to give you the best bang for buck.
When you’re applying for a position, you’re looking for a qualification that is on level with where your experience is at.
