Convert your existing public sector experience into a nationally recognised qualification through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). No further training or study is required to boost your career.

In Australia, we employ over 2 million public servants across the Commonwealth, State and Local governments which equates to around 9% of our total population being employed in the public service.
The Commonwealth public service employs about 14% of our public servants in the country, whereas the States employ around 77% and local governments employ just under 9%.
Employment continues to grow in the public service and as a community we spent $215 billion in public servant salaries and wages during 2022-2023.
Of course, there is so much diversity in responsibilities, roles, locations and opportunities when you choose a career of public service. You can be taking on new skills and exploring promotions, effectively building several careers in your lifetime.
Some would say that the superannuation and leave packages make staying in the public service for the whole of your working life very attractive too.

Being able to demonstrate current, relevant evidence of the skills and experience gained during your public sector career makes you eligible to secure a qualification through RPL. The best way to confirm your eligibility is by completing an appraisal with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) like Churchill Education. A Career & Education Advisor will assess your background, skills, experience, and evidence, and recommend the qualifications your police career makes you eligible for.
Yes, every public sector qualification you gain through RPL is nationally recognised and issued under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). They’re also exactly the same as those granted by other educational institutions, providing you secure the qualification through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) like Churchill Education.
The best qualifications to gain through RPL for a public sector worker depend on your career goals and current experience level. However, some of the most popular choices include the Certificate IV in Government, Human Resource Management, or Leadership and Management. Those with more experience may consider the Advanced Diploma of Government or the Graudate Diploma of Strategic Leadership.
RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) for the public sector is an assessment process that evaluates your existing public sector experience to help you gain nationally recognised qualifications. Rather than studying what you already know, this process assesses your skills against a set of criteria, and if you qualify, awards formal certifications that make you eligible for promotions, higher-level study, or careers in new industries.
