Higher Level Skills

What is the Higher Level Skills program?

The Higher Level Skills program is a Queensland Government subsidy program that aims to assist individuals to gain the higher-level skills required to secure employment or career advancement in a priority industry, or to transition to university to further their studies.

Students pay a co-contribution fee as specified by the training organisation, and the rest of the tuition fee is covered by the subsidy program.

Students can only access this subsidy once so they should be aware that they will no longer be eligible for a government-subsidised training place under a program once they complete the qualification level targeted through the program.

Qualifications include:

  • CHC40213 Certificate IV in Education Support

  • CHC50213 Diploma of School Age Education and Care

  • CHC50113 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care

  • CHC52015 Diploma of Community Services (Case Management)

Who is eligible?

To be eligible for the Higher Level Skills program, students must:

  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident, or a temporary resident with the necessary visa and on the pathway to permanent residency

  • live in Queensland and have left school

  • not already have or be enrolled in a certificate IV level or higher qualification
