This Advanced Diploma of Government is relevant to public servants in roles from Commonwealth, State and Local governments.

For a successful RPL application in Advanced Diploma of Government (Workplace Inspection) your experience needs to cover these practical situations:
• Involvement in establishing, maintaining, and evaluating an organisation’s work health and safety (WHS) policies, procedures and programs in order to ensure a safe workplace, with ensuring compliance with relevant WHS as part of their broader management role.
• Establishment and maintenance of effective industry partnerships in pursuit of improving work health and safety performance, legislative compliance and to educate and assist stakeholders to improve respective workplaces.
• Involvement in researching, planning and conducting investigations of work health and safety (WHS) issues which may be complex and potentially attract a high-level of community interest.
• Involvement in identifying, assessing and responding to emerging issues that may impact on work health and safety (WHS) performance.
• Representation and promotion of organisation in differing settings, using a range of communication strategies to achieve desired outcomes.
• Involvement in developing, planning, implementing and reviewing a risk management plan in order to maximise results and minimise consequences for an organisation.
• Participation in providing strategic direction within an organisation, including anaylsing relevant factors, developing and coordinating strategy and effective formulation and communication of strategy.
• Implementation of high-level communication strategies, in order to persuade and influence opinion of internal and external clients, colleagues and other staff.

 

After a review was completed in 2022 of all Australia’s Public Sector Package qualifications, the latest and current version of this qualification can be recognised by the code PSP60122.
The earlier qualification was PSP60116 Advanced Diploma of Government (Workplace Inspection/ Investigations/Fraud Control). Whilst the spirit of the earlier qualification aligned with the latest version, there have been some changes made to ensure that when you graduate with BSB60122 Advanced Diploma of Government (Workplace Inspection), you are possessing the range of skills and knowledge that modern workplaces demand.

According to statistics published in November 2021, there were just over two million public servant jobs in Australia, and this is forecast to grow.

WHAT DOES IT COMPRISE OF

Qualification Information

There are no entry requirements for the Advanced Diploma of Government (Workplace Inspection).
A total of 15 units of competency must be completed in Advanced Diploma of Government (Workplace Inspection). The units of competency required are:
7 core units; plus
8 elective units, consisting of:
• 1 unit from Group A
• 5 units from Group B to E
• 2 units from Groups B to E

To award the workplace inspection specialisation, 5 Group B electives must be selected.

Core units are mandatory for every student completing Advanced Diploma of Government, regardless of specialisation. When you look at the core units you can see that these key competencies are valued in government sector functions across the country:

• Maintaining and enhancing confidence in the public service
• Applying relevant government systems
• Upholding and supporting inclusive workplace practices
• Preparing high-level written communication
• Establishing and maintaining strategic networks
• Managing compliance in accordance with legislation affecting the public sector
• Managing and implanting policies

Once the core units have been addressed, the 6 elective units balance specialist public sector skills and transferable skills.

For example, a specialist government sector skill can be the ability to evaluate and report on workplace legislative compliance requirements.

For example, a transferable skill that is valued outside of the public service is your ability to coordinate resource allocation and usage.

Ranked at the Advanced Diploma level, for this qualification you will typically be competent working in an independent, self-directed and management capacity in the public sector.

When we started Churchill Education back in 2006, it wasn’t very common to see people obtain the Advanced Diploma of Government (Workplace Inspection) through Recognition of Prior Learning. In the last 5 years, we have seen a real shift in Departments looking at these qualifications as a minimum benchmark for their teams.
