What is the Certificate IV in Human Resources

BSB41015 Certificate IV in Human Resources was reviewed in 2020 and updated.

The review led to the Australian Government endorsing the latest qualification as BSB40420 Certificate IV in Human Resource Management.

How did BSB41015 Certificate IV in Human Resources change when it was updated?

BSB41015 Certificate IV in Human Resources changed in a number of key ways when it was updated:

  • The total number of units in the qualification increased from 10 to 12 units;
  • The mandatory units that must be completed to obtain the qualification were updated;
  • Elective units were put into groups with different rules introduced about how the qualification subject list must be completed to successfully graduate with the latest version.
  • The title of the qualification was changed from Certificate IV in Human Resources to Certificate IV in Human Resource Management.
  • The code for the qualification was updated from BSB41015 (the ‘15’ depicting the 2015 version) to BSB40420.

Interestingly, who the Certificate IV for Human Resource Management was aimed at did not change. It still aligns well with roles such as Human Resources Coordinators, Payroll Officers, Human Resources Officers and people who hold responsibility for human resources functions in small and large organisations.

WHAT DOES IT COMPRISE OF

Human Resource Management Experience

Typically, your experience will involve more complex customer engagements – beyond the “hello, how can I help you today” interactions towards problem-solving and building strong relationships with customers.

Duties could involve balancing a variety of communication channels with customers, to handling customer requests and complaints. There would be a level of accountability and often Key Performance Indicators that had to be met. Customer service teams would be developed under your leadership, from coaching them to be better company and customer advocates to managing and interpreting customer data.

These skills and this knowledge is the bread and butter of clever customer engagement in our world of business today, whether your organisation is distributing products or delivering services.

The skills and knowledge of strong customer engagement strategies is still as current today as it was when the qualification was first created back in 2009.
