How has the Diploma of Human Resources Management changed?

BSB50618 Diploma of Human Resources Management was superseded and replaced in October 2020 when across Australia the Business Services qualifications were updated.

The newest qualification is BSB50320 Diploma of Human Resource Management. When a qualification is updated, there is always a change to the code identifying the qualification.

At first glance, the two titles look the same, right?

We thought so too and then we noticed a slight change: instead of being Human Resources (plural), it became Human Resource (singular).

The older BSB50618 Diploma of Human Resources Management looked at key aspects of roles that are commonly found in the human resources sector in Australia.

The good news is that the newest version BSB50320 Diploma of Human Resource Management is still focused on roles within the human resources sector in current day Australia.

  • BSB50320 Diploma of Human Resource Management has introduced pre-requisites that must be met before you can enrol in the course

Total Number of Units

  • BSB50618 Diploma of Human Resources Management had a total of 9 units of competency (or subjects) to complete in the program
  • BSB50320 Diploma of Human Resource Management has a total of 12 units of competency (or subjects) to complete in the program

Changes to Core Units

  • BSB50618 Diploma of Human Resources Management had a total of 6 core units of competency (or subjects) that must be completed in the program. These units are mandatory so they cannot be swapped out of the program.
  • BSB50320 Diploma of Human Resource Management has a total of 7 core units of competency (or subjects) that must be completed in the program. These units are mandatory so they cannot be swapped out of the program.

Changes to Elective Units

  • BSB50618 Diploma of Human Resources Management had a total of 3 elective units of competency (or subjects) that must be completed in the program. These units were able to be chosen from some guidelines.

The older version of this qualification still attests to the level of skills and knowledge that you held to graduate successfully with Diploma of Human Resources Management. 

The Diploma of Human Resources Management has simply been updated so it is not the latest version available to the Australian public.
