Top 4 RPL Qualifications for Women

As a girl, you would have been asked this question at some point: what do you want to be when you grow up? Some of us had the answer straight away. Some of us felt stuck and had no answer immediately at hand. Luckily, careers have a way of rolling along anyway. Job opportunities come and we step up. Some of us pursue the dream we held. Others fall into a job and find it becomes a career.

When it comes to stepping up to higher qualifications, women are starting to find their value through Recognition of Prior Learning.

Currently only 23% of Churchill Education’s graduates are women. If that strikes you as a little low, we agree.

Interestingly, in the last 12 months in Australia, women’s university enrolments have fallen significantly. By contrast, Churchill has seen more women coming to us to talk about their skills. They are daring to believe in the value of their skills and experience. That 23% is growing and we are determined to support women even more.

We would like to see even more women valuing themselves, prioritising their career development and smashing the glass ceiling … just like the many talented women who have transformed their skills, knowledge and experience into national qualifications through Recognition of Prior Learning with Churchill Education.

Perhaps you are looking to make the most of your career experience?

Perhaps it is time to step into your next promotion or career change?

Perhaps you are wondering where to begin?

The good news is that we have been helping women standing at exactly these career moments since 2006. In that time we have gained an in depth understanding of what qualifications are most desired by employers, and which qualifications women are particularly capitalising on in building their careers.

Here are the Top 4 RPL qualifications sought by our female graduates. And some inspiration from some of our Churchill Alumni!

BSB51319 Diploma of Work Health and Safety

Workplace health and safety (WHS) is a fundamental consideration in modern organisations and shows employers that you have technical skills. Professionals in this field are always required because workplaces must comply to relevant legislation – in both the private and public sector. Pay scale trends show that WHS roles are often at the higher end of the pay spectrum.

This qualification assures employers for jobs that require the coordination and maintenance of WHS programs in their organisation, that you are already experienced and knowledgeable in these areas, with a comprehensive understanding of WHS and its applications. You can see by the sorts of roles that lead to WHS positions that there is often a link to managing WHS outcomes, so combining a work health safety qualification with leadership/management makes sense.

Possible career outcomes:

    • Work Health and Safety / OHS Officer (WHSO)
    • WHS/HSE Advisor
    • Work Health and Safety Manager
    • Maintenance CoordinatorDip HR
